Goodbye 2018/Hello 2019

Every year is like a blank page in a chapter of a book. And with that comes motivation for us to reflect and make new goals for the new year. I’ve always struggled with goal setting and completing them, them, but this year I want that to end. I want to push myself in every area to be better.

Last year my theme was living intentionally. 2018 was filled with ups and downs as it is every year but what I’m grateful for is the growth. I still have  a long way to go but knowing how far I’ve come is all because of God. Opening myself up for more community and involvement in church has definitely been a highlight of the year. 2018 has really been a year of looking in the mirror and realizing  how broken I really am and only Jesus is the answer (more on that in the later).  The future is bright because there is always hope.

My 2019 word for the year is “cultivate”.

Definitions of the word cultivate in the dictionary are:

-to promote the growth or development of (an art, science, etc.); foster

-to devote oneself to (an art, science, etc.)

to seek to promote or foster (friendship, love, etc.)

to seek the acquaintance or friendship of (a person).

All the goals I have made for myself this upcoming year have that theme. My desire is to continue to grow in every area of my life in faith, relationships, marriage, health and career.

I took those 5 areas I mentioned and wrote down a couple of goals for each category that I want to focus on achieving this new year. Every month I plan on writing actions that I must do to reach those goals. Also reading this post on increasing your chances of reaching your goals is something I plan on utilizing as well. Let me know if you make it habit to have a theme and/or word for the year!

2019, I’m looking forward to more growth, more transparency, more joy, more peace, more friendship and more adventure!
